The plan calls for a new structure that will be wider, be able to handle heavier and oversized loads, have a dedicated sidewalk and pedestrian underpasses at both ends. The plan also calls for a safe, off-highway parking area for recreational users of the Salmon River.
The open house will offer an opportunity for the public to learn more about the project, and to have any questions answered.
The open house is slated for Wednesday Feb 17th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Salmon Valley Volunteer Fire Department Hall.
Construction of the new bridge is expected to start later this year.

make it bigger than spec., it is never enough with these guys.
4 to 6 lanes wide and no overhead restriction or obstruction.
make it earthquake proof
take into account snow: load, removal, icing
enhance the recreation area at the river with better turn off, actual parking, and maybe a picnic shelter
Absolutely agree it should be 4 lanes, and yes that river is a big recreation area in the summer. There has to be a safe way to exit off the highway to it and a larger parking area.
Loki, send a letter to your MLA, before its all said and done, good points.
Unfortunately the City of Prince George does not or can not put a parking lot in at the north end of Foothills bridge, another recreation area that needs off road parking, before someone gets hit.
I agree make it four lane for the back burner, block off the other two lanes until such time those lanes are required. Case in point……..Cottonwood bridge?
It will be wider but still only two lanes. Four lanes going into two, hello!
Build for the future.4 lane it
I see the Liberals took down the completion date on the signs on 97 south to four lane the highway. It used to say completion date 2020. I hope they don’t have too put a toll on the salmon valley bridge, but you never know.
Not enough traffic on 97 North to warrant 4 lanes. Perhaps they should have saved the Cottonwood Bridge and laid it beside the Salmon Valley Bridge. then they would have had 4 lanes at very little cost. Hmmmm
At the present rate of progression we should have the Bailey Bridge at Willow River replaced sometime around 2025/2030
