Williams Lake, B.C. – One person is dead following a snowmobile crash in the Yanks Peak area yesterday.

North District Corporal Dave Tyreman says the Williams Lake RCMP and BC Ambulance Service responded after a SPOT beacon was set off just after 1:00 p.m.

He says police soon learned a group of 30 snowmobilers were participating in a ride and that a 45 year woman was involved in a crash.

Tyreman says efforts to revive the woman were unsuccessful, including the help of a nurse and paramedic participating in the ride, and that she later succumbed to her injuries.

The Williams Lake RCMP is currently investigating but will not be releasing the woman’s name.
