Prince George, B.C. – Two people have been been charged with attempted murder in relation to the shooting in Moore’s Meadow Park earlier this month.
“The Prince George RCMP has been working around the clock since the shooting of a local woman in Moore’s Meadow on February 15,” said Superintendent Warren Brown this afternoon. “This has been a difficult investigation as there is reluctance from people in the know, who out of fear for retaliation are simply scared to share their knowledge with the police.”
However after what he called “an intense and tenacious investigation that included the execution of multiple search warrants,” Supt. Brown said two Prince George residents were arrested for attempted murder yesterday afternoon.
Those people are 26 year old Ashylnn Noel Ruth Forrest, and 33 year old Jeff John Lapier. Both are in police custody and will make their first court appearances this afternoon.
Despite the arrests, Supt. Brown said “the investigation is far from over,” and that police will “continue to locate and identify people who may have knowledge of this matter. We have not ruled out the possibility that other persons are involved.”
Due to sensitive nature of the investigation, he was reluctant to release much more information regarding a motive “out of genuine concern for the safety of the victim and others.”
Supt. Brown did however concede the female victim was “shot more than once” and that her condition has improved to the extent she’ll likely be released from hospital very soon.
Once she’s discharged, he said police would be “doing everything we can to protect her and have a strategy in place to do so.”
Supt. Brown also assured residents the shooting “was not random” and that Moore’s Meadow and the surrounding neighbourhood is safe.
He also credited his staff for their work on the case.
“I’m very proud of the officers and staff that have worked tirelessly on this investigation,” said Supt. Brown. “Their dedication and expertise is why we have two people in custody.”
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call police.
