Prince George, B.C. – There were no injuries as a result of a small fire at the Husky Refinery on Pulpmill Road this afternoon.
“We experienced a small fire on a processing unit this afternoon at the Prince George refinery,” says Mel Duvall, Husky’s media and issues manager. “All personnel are safe and accounted for.”
He says the fire was put out by their personnel on site and that they continue to monitor the situation.
Duvall says the refinery continues to operate but notes the affected unit has been shut down.

That is the last place you would ever want a fire. If that refinery ever had a serious fire, the whole industrial area could go. Pretty scary stuff.
They have their own ERC teams on site and are good at what they do
You’re right. The emergency response crews are highly trained people. BUT, industry in PG is located within close proximity to the downtown and is also confined in a bowl with a population nearby. It is something to stay aware of, because accidents can and do happen.
Husky refinery has maintained a very respectable safety record. I hope to see it stay that way.
They set off the alarm at 1pm and could see lots of black smoke.. Then it seem to go out then a few minutes later a bunch more black smoke appeared..but that was put out fast as well..
I have done training with them and they are well trained and fast responders.
