Prince George, B.C. – Prince George RCMP are alerting residents to be aware of a scam that has turned up, and this one hits police particularly close.
Some members of the public have received a call from a phone number that appears to come from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, but the calls are not legitimate.
Police officials say the caller is aggressive and will try to get you to send money. The caller says that you have been fined or that you’re in trouble with a federal government agency. It’s a scam. Do not send money or provide personal information.
The RCMP is taking steps to have this matter investigated. In the meantime, if you’ve received a call of this nature and choose to report it, call the RCMP.

“The RCMP is taking steps to have this matter investigated.”
You’d think the RCMP would be conducting the investigation itself.
I once asked a Microsoft scammer some personal questions about his sister, had him screaming at me.
Hey, I’ve done that too! It’s fun!

Just don’t expect anything to come of it
Don’t know the Caller, just hung up, end of Call! Works for us.
