Playoff Hockey Returns to CN Centre
Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Cougars are in the WHL playoffs, and the first home game ( game 3) will take place Tuesday March 29th, with game 4 set for Wednesday the 30th.
This is the second straight season the Cougars have made the playoffs since the change in ownership in mid 2014 and they did it this season in four fewer games than last season.
“There is no atmosphere in the WHL that rivals a packed CN Centre and we are thrilled to welcome playoff hockey back to Prince George for a second straight season,” said Prince George Cougars Vice President, Business “All season long we have strived to provide our fans with a unique and enjoyable WHL experience, and the playoffs will be no different. Our players have battled so hard all season long to earn this opportunity and we can’t wait to see how things will unfold!”
The Cougars season record has improved over last season with five more wins and 10 more points and there are still two games to be played on the regular schedule.
Who the Cougars will face in the first round has yet to be decided as Victoria, Kelowna, Seattle and Everett are all possible opponents.
Heading into action this weekend, the Cougars are four points behind Kamloops for third in the B.C. Division, and finishing in the top three would mean either Victoria or Kelowna in the two-three B.C. Division matchup. Should the Cougars remain in one of the two Wildcard spaces, that would open up the door for either Seattle or Everett, depending on how the race for the US Division crown unfolds.
The Prince George Cougars wrap up their 2015-16 regular season with a home-and-home double header this weekend against the Kamloops Blazers.
