Prince George BC – This Is Social Worker week in Prince George and today a very special social worker has been recognized for her work.
Heather Lamb is a social worker at Spinal Cord Injury BC and today her efforts have been recognized as she was named the recipient of the Bridget Moran Award.
Moran was a social worker in Prince George whose on going outreach set a standard . As a social worker she worked at the local hospital and the school district. She layer wrote books and always said that “Love is an action word”. She was immortalized with a bronze statue which depicts her on a park bench. The statue’s pose makes one imagine her in conversation with whomever takes the seat beside her.
In presenting the award Dawn Hemingway noted Lamb’s humility and her work with the Lions Club, City Accessibility Committee and her willingness to speak to social work classes.

Congratulations! I’ve known Heather for the past few years and can say that although I am delighted with this news, I am hardly surprised. Can’t say I know too many people who volunteer as much of their time to worthy causes across the city as Heather does.
I have met Heather a couple of times in recent years with respect to common transit concerns. She is a super person and well deserving of recognition.
Good show. But it would be really nice if 250news actually pointed out which one is Dawn and which one is Heather. I assume the one on the left is Dawn, but who knows, not everyone knows them personally.
As a social worker, the road is a tough one, it can be a rewarding career but not without a great deal of stress as well.
Congrats Heather, Well Done!
Way to go,heather! Well deserved. Your work makes a rather big difference in the community and know that you are appreciated.
It is wonderful to see that Heather has done so well. I first met her when she was in kindergarten or Grade 1 and a friend of my daughter.
Yes is Heather on the right.
