Kidnapping Suspect Arrested, Victim Back in Hospital
Prince George, B.C. – The man suspected of kidnapping a woman in a wheelchair from the University Hospital of Northern BC early this afternoon against her will has been arrested and is in police custody.
Prince George RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass says at around 7:00 p.m. tonight a police officer located the suspect vehicle – an older red Honda hatchback – on the 1300 block of Irwin Street in Prince George.
The suspect, 44 year old Lash Leroux, was found and arrested at a home nearby without incident. The victim, a 50 year old woman, was located in the residence and was taken back to hospital. It is not known if she suffered any injuries.
Douglass says both the suspect and the victim know each other and that Leroux is considered violent.
Investigators will be requesting that Leroux be remanded in custody until a court appearance tomorrow.
The investigation is continuing.
