Prince George, B.C. – It was all smiles at the Prince George Public Library this morning.
Representatives of 46 community groups and projects were on hand to receive 2016 Community Enhancement Grants, Community Celebration Grants, and myPG Community Grants from the City of Prince George.
The grants totalled $137,850 and were approved by Council during its meeting this past Monday.
Mayor Lyn Hall said afterwards the groups perform vital services in the community and were very deserving recipients.
“They’re the heart and soul of the community and without those organizations that we gave grants to today, we’d be in tough shape,” he said. “They provide services to a wide range of folks in our community and they’re just so important to have.”
The three City of Prince George granting programs have a total of $405,150 available this year to support community groups.
In addition to the $137,850 announced this week, Council had previously approved $259,300 this year in grant funding to eight groups based on three year agreements.
The remaining $8,000 of available grant funding will be the subject of a further report to Council in October, 2016.
