Prince George, B.C. – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince George is going Hollywood with The Big Gala tonight at the Hart Community Centre.

Operations and Event Assistant Cassie Lobban says “it’s the first year we’re holding the gala.  Doors open at 6 pm and dinner is at 7 and it’s a Hollywood theme, so we’re going to have a red carpet and a champagne reception.”

There are two dinner choices available, cedar plank salmon or roast and, Lobban says, “the Hart (centre) is doing all of the catering and the venue looks amazing with its beautiful décor.”

“We have a variety of silent auction items as well as four Live Auction items, which include a wine package, a craft beer package, coffee for a year from Tim Horton’s and the fourth item is a get-away to Victoria, so some really fun items to bid on.”

There will also be a pair of emcees, a deejay entertaining and a shuttle home.

Lobban says “one hundred percent of the proceeds of the gala go towards serving Prince George youth and children in order to provide them with more mentoring programs and more services.”  She adds “if this night is a big success that’s really great for us because that means we can spend more time recruiting volunteers and getting children matched up with mentors.”

Ticket sales have been steady but Lobban says “we will have some tickets available for sale at the door.”  They are $65 each or a table for ten at $600.
