In the attached National Observer link, both Clark and Harper admitted the increase in forest fires was caused by global warming. So why is our provincial government not going after the fossil fuel industry to recoup some of the costs of fighting these forest fires. We are taking about nearly half a billion dollars or more per year here.
It is the use of fossil fuel products that is causing global warming, therefore it makes sense that they should be helping with the increased costs associated with global warming.

Good idea. The provincial government could introduce a revenue neutral tax that would encourage cutting down on fossil fuels by hitting the wallet harder the more you use. It could be used as a template across Canada and the US as a model that actually cuts usage while helping the economy.
They could call this novel new idea the “Carbon Tax”
Bad part is Gordon Campbell stole your good idea a long time ago.
