Quesnel, B.C. – The BC Wildfire Service continues to make good progress on the wildfire burning 3 km south of the community of Nazko and 90 km west of Quesnel.

“As of Monday evening the fire is 60% contained,” said fire information officer Emily Epp. “On Sunday they mapped the fire at 398 hectares in size and that is still the case.”

She added should favourable weather conditions persist, crews anticipate that they will have full containment by the end of today.

Epp initially said the cause of the fire, which was started last Friday, was under investigation but later today indicated it was sparked by industrial activity and high winds.

As of this morning 65 firefighters are on scene battling the blaze along with a helicopter and heavy equipment.

No structures have been lost or threatened at any time due to the fire.
