Pittman Awarded Paving Contract
Prince George, B.C. – With the early spring, the asphalt plants are looking to start up at least a week or two early this year, and that is one of the reason’s why Council for Prince George wanted to finalize the awarding of the asphalt contract.
Through a competitive bid process, Pittman asphalt in Prince George provided the lowest cost ( $6.133 million) of the three bids received for the paving work in this City.
The company has been awarded a two year contract, with labour costs for next year to be renegotiated.
With asphalt plants firing up early, it means the road work can get underway sooner than is usual. There is still a contract for micro-surfacing to be awarded.
The City has budgeted $7 million dollars for road rehabilitation projects this year.

Hmmm, makes you wonder if Columbia is going to shut it down?
Wonder if the City will have the time to check the quality of the asphalt they will lay down.
Cheers
Just came back from West Kelowna and Kelowna. The pavement looks different there somehow. One does not see the endless glued cracks and fields of patched potholes like here. Little evidence of the glue crew being overworked either. It does get cold there too. We were there in December 2011 and it was more than 34 below zero overnight. Is our pavement/asphalt up to snuff?
