Progress Continues on Hudson’s Bay Wetland Project
Prince George, B.C. – It won’t be long before work continues on the Hudson’s Bay Wetland Nature Park near Exploration Place.
Billed as a future tourist attraction for the City of Prince George, the park already features two platforms in the channel area – the spot that drains the wetland into the Fraser River.
Past president Clive Keen says next up will be the construction of a heightened, extended overlook on the other side of Queensway within the next month.

“A platform that goes up about six feet or so on the west side in what we now call the pond. We’re going to have a nice platform allowing people to overlook that.”
Once that’s finished he says they’ll spend the rest of this year constructing an overlook on the Heritage Trail.
Moving forward, Keen says they’ll need to raise some “cash” to make things more complete.
“We need to raise at least $25,000 for the footbridge to take people from the south side of the large pond to the north side of the large pond.
“Then we’ll have a circular walk and until it’s a circular walk it’s never going to be very well used. But once it’s a 2.5 km circular walk it’s going to be very popular.”
Prior to the start of work he says a spring cleanup has been scheduled for this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“The VLA people are going to be very much involved in that. So that’ll be some good clean fun.”
Anyone wanting to help should meet at the community Green Space at 2307 Oak Street.
