Wildfires Prompt Evacuations in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek

Prince George, B.C. – Wildfires crews are busy battling wildfires in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek today.
Prince George Fire Centre spokesperson Amanda Reynolds says based on the information they have received so far they know the following:
- There are 21 fires burning in the Fort St. John Zone
- There are 16 fires burning in the Dawson Creek Zone
- The wildfire in Baldonnel is 50% contained and under an evacuation order
- An evacuation order is in effect for Charlie Lake
- An evacuation order for South Taylor Hill remains in effect
Reynolds says the largest fire is 3,000 hectares and burning in Fort St. John. She says extra personnel is headed to the scene and notes some of the fires are suspected to be human caused while others were sparked by fallen power lines during yesterday’s wind storm.
The SPCA in Fort St. John is open and accepting pets and small livestock. They are also accepting donations of food for the animals.

Currently working in south taylor, its really smokey, and we are under the possibility of having to stop work, Hwy 97 is apparently closed aswell
