PG Wrestler Earns Two Medals at National Championships
Prince George, B.C. – Quite the haul for PGSS Polar wrestler Tristina Howse.
The 17 year old muscled her way to two medals in the 90kg class at the Juvenile Canadian Wrestling Championships in Calgary last weekend – a silver in the greco-roman category and a bronze in freestyle.
“It felt very good. Knowing I can come home and make everyone proud. It was an amazing experience.”
So what does the future hold?
“I’m very excited to see what’s going to come up for me in my grade 12 year next year. Being the only one from Prince George to go (to nationals) two years running is a lot to carry. I had a lot of fun, met some amazing people. The University of Calgary is where I would like to wrestle.”
It’s been a stellar season for Howse, who earlier this year won the North Central Zone championship, was named Wrestler of the Year, and was also presented with an Excellence Athletes award by the Prince George Hall of Fame.
