School Board Approves Annual Facility Grant
Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George School District’s 2016/17 annual facility grant from the provincial government will total $3,251,395.
The operating portion totals $724,012, including $113,590 for the district’s portion of the provincial capital cost to implement the Next Generation Network (which will provide improved access to internet-based learning, and instructional resources and tools).
The capital portion of the grant for the 2016/2017 school year is $2,527,383. The money comes from Victoria’s capital funding contingency allocation through the certificate of approval process.
This process required the adoption of a capital project bylaw before borrowing could take place.
The Board gave its approval at its monthly public meeting last night. The largest portion of the capital funding, $700,000, will go towards a heating system upgrade at Lac des Bois Elementary.
A further $544,000 has been earmarked for a heating and ventilation terminal unit replacement at Nusdeh Yoh Elementary.
$450,000 will go towards a boiler replacement and heating and ventilation terminal unit at Quinson Elementary.
All projects planned for 2016/2017 have been reviewed by the Board’s Education Services Committee.
