CNC Hosts Gourmet Gala
Prince George, B.C. – The gastronomical delights are expected to be exquisite, dress is “casual/chic” for CNC’s 10th Annual Global Gourmet Fundraising Gala and Gallery this evening.
Twelve students graduating from CNC’s Professional Cook program under the tutelage of Chefs Tony Rechstiener, Mandy Newcomb and Ron Christian will present an international fine dining experience for those partaking with delicacies from Brazil, Greece, India, Korea, Mexico, New Orleans and Thailand. “So it should be fantastic,” says CNC Communications Manager Annette Stevens, “a multicultural ambiance. Our professional cooks just do a fantastic job with this event.”
The gala is taking place from 6 until 10 pm in the Gathering Place at the college, with seating for approximately 150 guests. Unfortunately, if you had not purchased a ticket ($90 + GST) by noon Friday, sales have now closed.
As noted in the title of the event, this is a fundraiser. Stevens says “we actually fundraise for several things. Our main ask is funding for state-of-the-art equipment so that we can keep the students trained with the best equipment when they move out into industry to their jobs, so they’re trained correctly. So we fundraise for specific pieces that they would need for their different areas.” She notes that the college also fundraises for memorials which they have endowments for as well as scholarships and bursaries.
And what is “casual/chic” dress? “It’s not black tie,” says Stevens, “but it’s not blue jeans and T-shirts either.”
