Prince George, B.C. – The spring edition of the Junk in the Trunk Sale is in the books and the organizers say it was a big success.
The sale is held twice a year, spring and fall, in the parking lot at CN Centre and is an initiative of the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George and REAPS. Its an event that promotes re-use and recycling to reduce the amount of unwanted “stuff” ending up in the landfill, or worse. The idea is to give people who can’t hold their own garage or yard sale, such as people living in condos, apartments etc., a place to do so.
The event allows registered participants to sell items from tables, trailers, the trunk of their car or off the ground. The operative word is “registered” and, unfortunately this year, some people snuck in. “I’m going to charge them double” joked REAPS Executive Director Terri McClymont. Those registered participants make a $10 donation for a stall, with the money going to cover building expenses incurred each year by REAPS. There were 150 registrants for this event. Total contributions are to be tallied.
McClymont says “it was definitely a success, and kudos to all the vendors because we had to change the layout first thing in the morning, unbeknownst to us. So kudos to the vendors for hanging in there with us and helping us to re-adjust the format. And kudos to the regional district for bring a porta potty on site.”
Items not sold by the vendors can be donated to AIMHI, and McClymont says they received on cube van that was totally filled. In fact, there were many donated items left over and three pick-up truck loads were given to the Salvation Army.

I found some great buys but I don’t know if I needed the items I purchased.
Just recycle them through the sale next year. ;-)

These are probably the same people who don’t want to pay $6 to take their “trash” to the dump and most likely left their crap behind for others to clean up or throw away.
