City Staff Raising Dollars for Ft. McMurray
Prince George, B.C.- Staff with the City of Prince George have made a commitment to try their best to help out those who have been forced from their homes in Ft. McMurray.City of Prince George staff have made a commitment to raise $50 thousand dollars by the end of this year. “Our hearts and prayers are with those affected by the tragedy in Ft. McMurray” says Mayor Lyn Hall. He says he has been trying to connect with the Mayor of Ft. McMurray, but understands she is very busy at this time. Mayor Hall says it will be quite a while before those forced from their homes will be allowed back because the community has a number of issues, including water, gas, electricity “They are in a tough tough situation” .
Mayor Lyn Hall says he is very aware and concerned about the number of fires burning in the Peace region, “If you could keep those folks in mind as well” . Mayor Hall says with Prince George surrounded by forests, the type of tragedies occurring in both Ft. McMurray and the Peace could well happen here “We want to make sure we are vigilant about that (mitigating risk).
