Evacuation Order for Beatton Airport Road
Area highlighted in red is under evacuation order
Fort St. John, B.C. – Residents of Electoral Area B of the Peace River Regional District and the Blueberry First Nations Reserve, have been ordered to leave the area immediately as the Beatton Airport Road fire has flared up.
RCMP , Search and Rescue and Wildfire Management are working to ensure everyone leaves the area.
Residents are asked to register at the Reception Centre at the North Peace Arena in Fort St. John.
In addition to the Beatton Airport fire causing smoky conditions throughout the region, the Siphon Creek fire has grown in the northwestern and eastern flanks.
Smoke from the Halfway River fire located 30 kilometres northeast of Hudson’s Hope was blown into the communities and area surrounding Hudson’s Hope and the Halfway River First Nations. The fire has not moved closer to either community. However, it did see growth to the northwest. Crews continue to work on dozer guard on the southwest flank.
Weather will continue to be hot and sunny and winds are expected to shift again tomorrow. Winds are expected to be 30 kilometres per hour west to southwest gusting up to 60 kilometres per hour. This will likely result in increased fire behaviour and potentially increased fire growth.
