St John Ambulance Seeking Volunteers

Prince George, B.C. – A volunteer run organization of first responders could use your help.

St John Ambulance (SJA) says they are in need of medical first responder volunteers in preparation for the busy summer season ahead.

SJA provides its services for a wide range of community events including sports, parades and concerts. st john ambulance

Logistics officer Joshua Pollard in Prince George says applicants must have an interest in first aid and health care and meet the following requirements:

  • Be 16 years or older
  • Be physically and mentally capable of performing the activities that are reasonable for the type of service they are to provide
  • Have a valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certificates
  • Complete a criminal record check (those over 18 years)
  • Undergo 60 hours of volunteer training and be able to provide at least 60 hours of volunteer service per year

He says volunteers will receive:

  • Orientation to get to know the organization
  • Advanced first aid and health safety skills training
  • Advanced Medical First Response Course
  • On-going leadership training
