Prince George, B.C. – The park formerly known as Fort George, now called Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park, was fairly quiet Saturday what with all of the other activities taking place both within and outside the city.

But that didn’t stop train enthusiasts from turning out for the first run of the 2016DSC_0481 season of the “Little Prince”.  Riders young, old and in between all seem to ride the rails in the park with a smile on their face as the 104-year-old locomotive hisses its steam and toots its whistle while taking what appears to be a leisurely stroll.  Amazing!

Sun and cloud and a high of 19 says the weather forecast so perhaps a trip to the park is just the ticket.   The Little Prince might bring you a smile today.  Departure times are noon to 8 pm Thursday through Sunday, all summer long.

$3.50 for adults, $2.50 ages 2 to 18, a loonie for little guys under 2.

it would be nice if they could turn down the volume of the whistle – i live 6 blocks away with queensway between my house and the park, and, even with all the traffic it sounds as if the whistle is in my backyard – very annoying, especially if one is trying to sleep

Ha! I grew up at 20th and Gorse. That train used to drive my dad nuts.I still laugh thinking about his rants about the whistle.

There isn’t much respect for anyones right to peace and quiet in their homes any more.
