Prince George, B.C. –  The Caledonia Early Care and Learning Centre at the College of New Caledonia in Prince George  has been  recognized with a special  award.

The Child Care Merit Award of Excellence in Innovation has been presented to the Centre which is a non-profit society providing child care options at  CNC. The “innovation” category recognizes an individual, facility or organization demonstrating innovation in child-care programming in a traditional or non-traditional setting that links services to opportunities for child development and growth.

The Child Care Awards of Excellence recognize the exceptional contributions made by early childhood educators, licensed family child-care providers, organizations and local governments throughout B.C.

“The Caledonia Early Care and Learning Centre provides highly innovative programs that support child development,” said Shirley Bond, MLA for Prince George-Valemount. “The early childhood educators at this non-profit society deserve recognition for their dedication to nurturing happy and healthy children.”

“This award acknowledges the early childhood educators at the Caledonia Early Care and Learning Centre for their exceptional work,” said Mike Morris, MLA for Prince George-Mackenzie. “They provide a fun and supportive environment for children to learn skills that will prepare them for success in school and in life.”

After an open call for nominations, ten child care providers from across B.C. have been selected to receive Child Care Awards of Excellence in one of five categories: provincial, innovation, local government, leadership and Aboriginal.
