Prince George, B.C. – Lowe’s is one step closer to opening its first store in Prince George.

The home improvement and appliance chain giant has announced a job fair at Pine Centre Mall from June 2-4 next week.

The company says the new location is expected to create 130 permanent positions in addition to 5-10 seasonal jobs.

The company will be hiring for full time and part time positions in a wide variety of roles including department managers, sales specialists, night crew, cashiers and customer service associates.

The store is expected to officially open its doors late this summer. The fair will happen inside the mall adjacent to Sears, across from “Homework.”

“We are excited to join the Prince George community and have a lot of great employment opportunities available,” said Fred Pagotto, market director of B.C. Stores, Lowe’s Canada.

“The new Lowe’s will create many new jobs in Prince George and we are committed to filling as many positions as possible locally. We are looking for passionate people who are ready to help our customers love where they live, and achieve their project goals and dreams.”

The job fair will take place during the following hours:

Thursday, June 2 – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Friday, June 3 – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday, June 4 – 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

According to Lowe’s the store will have approximately 101,000 square feet of retail space with an adjacent garden centre of around 7,500 square feet.

The new Prince George store is one of four new Lowe’s locations set to open in B.C. The other stores are in Abbotsford, Nanaimo and Victoria.

The store space has been sitting empty since Target closed its doors last spring.
