Mackenzie, B.C.- Highway 39  is now  open to single lane alternating traffic about 5kms south of  Mackenzie.The highway was closed yesterday afternoon  following a crash  involving a commercial transport truck and a small passenger car.

The driver of the car,  a 79 year old  resident of Mackenzie, suffering fro serious injuries.  He  is in hospital in serious,  but stable condition.

Witnesses advised police  they believe the small car crossed over the centre line and collided with the transport truck.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

The highway is expected to  be fully open  around 11 this morning.
