YMCA Run Attracts Young and Older

Prince George, B.C. – The 2016 Canadian Tire YMCA Road Race and Family Fun Run went into the books at Masich Place Stadium on Sunday.
A total of 454 competitors took part: 51 in the half marathon, 84 in the 10k, 131 in the 5k and 188 kids ran in the fun run that was capped off with bubbles and coloured (non-toxic) powder as they completed their laps of the track. The oldest competitor of the day was 88-year-old Grant Yule in the 5k while the youngest was 5-year-old Lily Blom, who also ran in the 5k race.

The top times in the half marathon were 1:21:18 posted by Jim Van Bakel in the men’s race and Jackie Peterson’s 1:36:44 in the women’s race. The 10 k race winners were Sam Goodrich in the men’s division and Laura Pettersen in the women’s division.
While others weren’t that impressed.
There were 70 volunteers who assisted the YMCA in running the event, which is sponsored by Canadian Tire.
