Quesnel, B.C. – Work continues on Quesnel’s new arena project – the 1,400 seat West Fraser Centre.

“Concrete continues to be poured almost daily on the arena site as the contractor makes progress on the building foundation,” reads a posting on the City’s website.

“Footings have been poured for the complete perimeter so the building footprint can now be fully identified. It is anticipated that within the next two weeks all of the nearly 100 structural columns for the building will be finished.

“Work continues on the shear walls and the forms of the elevator and backfilling is occurring in areas where the concrete foundation is complete.”

Ground-breaking for the $20.6 million project was last April and the arena should be complete by the fall of 2017.

The arena is located just across from the Twin Arenas and will feature an Olympic-sized hockey rink and allow for other events like trade shows and concerts.
