WS Farmers Market Adds New Component
Prince George, B.C. – The Wilson Square Farmers Market which sets up every Saturday at the Pine Centre Mall, will now offer the market experience on Sundays at CNC.
“We’ve got a lot of people who work on Saturdays so we just thought we would give people more of an option with Sundays as well” says WS Farmers Market President Maria Pennock.
Starting today, the market will set up in the parking lot in front of the John Brink Building. Pennock says the Sunday market will offer the regular fare, plus an educational component “We are working with the College of New Caledonia, doing educational things with them. They’re going to have some of their students come out, they’ll be doing tours in September to show the facilities. We’ll be doing more things like how to plant classes, jam making classes, a whole bunch of activities that are sort of community oriented but also around the college.”
Pennock says the Sunday site will provide them with a little more flexibility to do events.
“What we liked about this ( Sunday set up) is if there are vendors coming in out of town, it’s more worth their while to do two markets in Prince George instead of just one. So if they are travelling all the way to Prince George, it’s nice to do two different venues” says Pennock “I think we will get a whole different clientele as well, Sunday is kind of a family day so we’ve got more of a laid back kind of day on Sunday.”
Both the Saturday market at the Pine Centre Mall and the Sunday market at CNC will run through to Thanksgiving.
