Keeping the Kids Safe
Prince George, B.C.- In just a few days from now, school will be out for the summer, and that means plenty of youngsters will be outside playing and may not be focusing on being safe near roadways.
According to ICBC stats, on average, seven pedestrians aged 5-15 in the North Central region of BC are injured in mishaps with vehicles each year.
Drivers are reminded to slow down and watch for clues that young ones may be playing in the area. Spotting things such as a hockey net, or a ball should alert drivers to watch for children playing in the area.
Drivers are also reminded to watch for cyclists of all ages and sizes. Making eye contact with them lets them know you have seen them. Check over your right should before turning right to ensure you aren’t cutting off a cyclist .
Parents are encouraged to go over road safety tips with children.
