Wheelin’ Warriors Battle Cancer
Prince George, B.C. – The Wheelin’ Warriors of the North, a group of passionate, like-minded, cancer-fighting cyclists in the Prince George area is inviting everyone to a community fundraiser today.
The group includes a little over 50 people from many walks of life: doctors, cancer survivors, a car salesman and several others. The fundraiser today is a barbeque running from 11 am to 3 pm at Prince George Motors. A minimum donation of $5 gets you a burger, bag of chips and a drink.
All of the money raised goes to the Wheelin’ Warriors of the North team fundraising goal of $150,000 for 2016. The monies will be taken to an event called The Ride to Conquer Cancer, a 250 kilometre, 2-day ride from Vancouver to Seattle with an overnight stop in Mount Vernon. The ride goes August 27th and 28th and involves people from all over BC.
All of the money turned over at the ride is then distributed by the BC Cancer Foundation throughout the province, including in Prince George through the cancer agency here.
Today’s barbeque is being held at Prince George Motors because of its continued support of the riders’ efforts to help beat the insidious disease, cancer. Again, it runs from 11 am to 3 pm.
Members of the Wheelin’ Warriors will don their new 2016 unis this morning before heading out on a tour of the city.
