BC Hydro Dealing with Power Outages in Prince George – Update
Prince George, B.C. – BC Hydro is reporting more than 4 thousand customers without power in Prince George as another storm cell moves through the area.
Power is out basically from the Fraser River west to Highway 16 and south of University Way. Power was lost at 6:32 pm and, although crews have been dispatched, they are not expected to get to the problem areas before 7:30.
Power was lost west of the Willowcale and south of Ospika Boulevard, affecting 2,561 customers. And other 1695 customers south of University Way also lost their power.
There is no estimate as yet for power to be restored.
Update: BC Hydro now reports 11 outages in Prince George affecting 3667 customers. Crews are expected to arrive in the area south of University Way, west of Highway 97 and northeast of Highway 16 within the next five minutes. Crews are dispatched to Swanson Road with an arrival time of 8:15 pm. Other locations have yet to be attended to.
Lightning is pinpointed as the cause of an outage at 7:11 pm west of North Street, south of Highway 16 and east of Aldeen which cut power to 347 customers.
The cause(s) of the remaining outages has not been determined.
