Three Arrested in Stolen Vehicle Probe
Prince George, B.C. – Three people were arrested and one will make their first court appearances this afternoon for alleged involvement in a vehicle theft.
Prince George RCMP received a report last evening of a Honda Odyssey minivan being stolen from a residence on Castle Road, near Highway 97 south of the City.
A short time later, the same vehicle was spotted by police on Queensway in Prince George.
Members of the Prince George RCMP’s Street Crew Section with assistance from General Duty officers, conducted a vehicle stop of the minivan near the corner of George Street and 3rd Avenue in downtown Prince George.
The female driver of the vehicle is alleged to have become “aggressive” towards police as the they tried to arrest her.
Two male passengers in the vehicle were arrested without incident. The first male is a 24 year old Prince George resident who is currently on the Prince George RCMP’s Prolific Offender List. The second male, 42 years old, was on parole in Prince George. His parole has now been revoked.
29 year old Holly Ann Sopel is now facing the following charges:
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Assault a Peace Officer
- Obstructing a Peace Officer
Sopel is also accused of being the suspect in a shoplifting case from June. She is also facing a charge of Theft Under $5000 in relation to that incident.
