New Intersection Planned for Ancient Forest
Prince George, B.C. -Access to the Ancient Forest off Highway 16 east of Prince George, is about to be improved.
The Province will be contributing $1 million dollars to build an intersection to the park which welcomed more than 20 thousand visitors last year..
“These improvements to the intersection and parking facilities at the Ancient Forest will enhance visitors’ experience at this very special park,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone. “Ministry staff have taken great care to respect the environment during the work, making every effort to consider the unique environmental diversity of the area.”
In addition to the road improvements, the Province will work with the federal government to consider this area for a UNESCO World Heritage Site nomination in recognition of the outstanding values of the ancient cedar stands.

Yes much needed. the parking lot needs to be able to accommodate the RV’s as well.
Okay Ancient Forest, great place but 1 million being spent to improve the intersection, say what? How about Ospika and 16, how about lights at Kimball and 16?
Interesting the thumbs down. Million dollars, must be quite an intersection? Now take the turn offs to Purden and Tabor ski areas, no intersection at those locations and most likely a lot more traffic. Interesting.
Here come the obese, basement dwelling haters who haven’t been further than their local Mr G’s … to complain and give their amazing .02c on how things should run around here.
Can’t wait to see your expert opinion on how things should be run around here. Everyone better stock up on the Orville Redenbachers.
Ancient forest??? I remember the days when there was a cedar shake mill set up in that area.
I remember that mill site too.
The rumour going around had it that they went broke because there was more rot in the cedars than they anticipated; any truth to that?
metalman.
I went The Ancient Forest for the first time in my life this year, it was amazing, any access improvements will be well received
