Quesnel, B.C. – A disturbing discovery was made in Quesnel over the weekend.

Mounties confirm human remains were found near the provincial park off of Pinnacles Road on Saturday.

“A couple of hikers found what they believed to be human remains,” says Sgt Darren Dodge. “We can confirm at this point that the remains are female and that there’s nothing to indicate foul play at this time.”

He doesn’t know how long the remains were there but notes an autopsy will be performed tomorrow.

Dodge says once the identity of the deceased is confirmed it will be up to the family to decide whether to make it public.
