WestJet Increases PG-Vancouver Service
Prince George, B.C.-One more flight between Prince George and Vancouver has been added to the WestJet schedule.
The additional flight will mean there will be five daily flights from YXS to YVR Monday to Friday. It is welcome news to passengers and Prince George Airport Authority President John Gibson “We kept hearing from the public that WestJet flights were full so we worked with them to increase their service levels. With five flights a day to Vancouver, WestJet is now where they were earlier this year in terms of service to YVR.”
“Getting people to Prince George earlier in the day allows them to do a full days’ worth of business. The early departure time out of YVR (6 am) allows travellers to skip the morning rush hour on the roads in Vancouver, while the departure out of YXS at 7:45am is a prime time flight for Prince George residents destined to YVR and beyond” says Gibson.
The additional flight will take effect September 19th, but is already available to book.
Also in the reservation system is the continuation of the non-stop flight to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico out of Prince George. The “Snow to Sand” flight takes off every Saturday from October 29th 2016 to April 29th 2017.

why not return the jet service
Cost.
The Q400 has the lowest seat-cost in the short-haul market.
It provides the best of both worlds. It is able to either fly slower to minimize fuel burn or faster to maximize productivity.
It can fly at either turboprop or jet speeds deploying it over short-range and medium-haul markets for maximum profitability
They are used between major national and international cities such as Frankfurt to Paris which takes an hour, approximately the same as PG to Vancouver.
Porter started up its service with Bombardier Q400 between Ottawa and Toronto, 10 times per weekday shuttle in October of 2006, almost 10 years ago and continues to this day.
Do they use Q400’s between Vancouver and Edmonton, or Vancouver and Calgary. ??
Yes, with stop in Kelowna
I would rather see the PG to Calgary flight return.A lot of the people on the five flights to Van. probably have to go to connect in Calgary anyway.
Flew the Q400 from Vancouver to PG on my recent trip out west, and also from Toronto to Ottawa coming home. I thought they were quite nice and to be honest, it didn’t seem like the flights were that much longer in duration than when they used the jets. I’m sure they were, but I don’t think it would be a significant concern.
The big thing for me is comfort and I found them to be just as good as the jets and miles ahead of a Dash 8 if that’s the comparable for a regional type flight.
