Environment Canada says “Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.
A significant upper low pressure system will continue to drift southward along the BC coast resulting in a very unstable airmass over the Central Interior today. Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening for areas as far north as Smithers and Fort St. James.”
Very large hail is capable of damaging property breaking windows, denting vehicles and causing serious injuries. Environment Canada says intense lightning “is likely with any thunderstorm that develops.”
