Prince George, B.C. – Those looking for some great eats in support of an important cause will want to head over to Integris Credit Union at 5th and Central today.

Staff members have been busy serving up breakfast since 8:00 this morning and will continue on with a barbecue lunch starting at 11:30.

“So we’re having a community celebration for the Cops for Cancer Tour de North,” says communications officer Cori Ramsay. “We’re hoping to raise some funds for them. It’s a great cause. We’ve got a community rider on the team so we’re really pleased to be supporting this.”

“The Cops for Cancer is something I’ve been aware of for a number of years and when I joined Integris Credit Union three years ago I became aware of the fact that Integris was a significant sponsor of the tour and I’m always looking for a challenge and I try to be somewhat fit and I thought it was a pretty good mix,” says financial planner and rider Martin Hooke who’s joined the tour for a second straight year.

“It’s an incredible cause – all the money raised is going towards pediatric cancer care and research with 20 percent of the money going towards Camp Goodtimes which is a camp specifically for children who are fighting cancer.”

Along with lunch, attendees can also expect to hear some live music from four local artists. The barbecue will run until 2:00 this afternoon.

The 850 km Tour de North starts September 16 in Prince George and will wrap up in Prince Rupert a week later.
