Sun May Make Way for Stormier Weather – Environment Canada

Saturday, August 6, 2016 @ 10:13 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Prince George residents woke up to sunny skies today but that could soon change.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the city which may be upgraded to the risk of a severe thunderstorm warning late this afternoon.

“It’s a repeat performance of yesterday,” says meteorologist David Jones. “There’s a big upper low on the coast that’s moving so slowly, the pattern is just going to repeat itself in a cycle.”

He warns today’s beautiful weather could change in a hurry.

“Don’t be fooled because we’re very confident that thunderstorms are going to develop this afternoon. So everyone heading out needs to have a plan B so the moment you see the sky darkening and the wind picking up it’s time to head for shelter.”

Jones says tomorrow forecast looks slightly better.

“It won’t be quite as bad. The low will be a little bit further away but there’s often the threat of thunderstorms in the Interior this time of year so stay tuned for the forecast tomorrow as well.”
