Williams Lake, B.C. – The body of a missing 35-year-old Deep Creek man has been recovered.
North District RCMP Corporal Dave Tyreman says the man – who was fishing in the Xats’ull Heritage Site Road area – slipped and fell into the Fraser River on July 31.
He says an extensive ground, air, and river search initially came up empty though their luck changed on August 5 at around 3:30 p.m. when Mounties received a tip about a body in the Fraser River near Dog Creek.
Williams Lake RCMP members with the help of the Conservation Officer Service and RCMP Air 3 Support were able to locate the body and make a positive identification.
The BC Coroner’s Service has since taken over the investigation. The victim’s name has not been released.
