Prince George, B.C. – For the third straight year, the Relay  for Life in Prince George has  been named the  Number One Relay for Life in Canada.

The Relay for Life in P.G. raised $557,233.54  and there are still some dollars coming in.   The second place honours go  to Terrabonne-Mascouche Quebec with  raised $519 thousand.

Prince George’s Relay For Life is the only 24-hour Relay event in Canada.

“We’re so proud that Prince George is once again the number one Relay For Life in the nation. We wouldn’t have achieved the top spot three years in a row without tremendous support from the people of Prince George and some very special and extremely generous participants,” says Aimee Cassie, Annual Giving Coordinator Canadian Cancer Society, BC and Yukon. “Every year the people of Prince George come together to help make Relay For Life the best in the country. It’s really inspirational and we are so grateful.”

The Society  has already started planning for the 2017 relay which will mark the  25th anniversary of Relay For Life in Prince George. “We are going to do our best to beat our fundraising total and keep that title in Prince George for our special 25th anniversary,” says Cassie. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished in the last 25 years.”

I am honored to live in a town with so many good people, all the volunteers, incredible!

Thanks to the organizers, sponsors, volunteers and participants. Well done to all involved

Way to go to all involved! Once again the people of Prince George stepped up to the plate and hit a home run! Maybe we can get Macleans magazine to do a report on this and they can publish it right after their crime severity index?

We have much to be proud of! I’ve lived in the “north” and I’ve lived in the “south”! People in the “north” are better!
