Prince George, B.C. – A nice boost for the Northern Lights Wildlife Society in Smithers.
The Spruce City Wildlife Association (SCWA) has donated 100 pounds of hatchery raised Rainbow Trout and 50 pounds of apples.
This after Northern Lights recently put out the call for help because of the unusually high number of animals in their care.
Last week shelter manager Angelika Langen told 250News they had 25 bear cubs and three deer fawns to feed who were going through six buckets or 25 pounds of fruit and vegetables each feeding.
SCWA president Steve Hamilton says they were more than happy to help out.
“It’s a good fit for spruce city to donate to a rescue facility – we are both conservation oriented organizations, and we both want what’s best for wildlife and habitat.”
Others in the Prince George area who’d like to help may drop off their donations at Bandstra Transportation Systems who will ship them to Smithers free of charge.
Those unable to make it to Bandstra can call Langen on her cell at 1-250-877-1181 for pick up information.
