Prince George, B.C. – The Hosting BC program has approved $17,500 in grants to support sporting tournaments and championships in Prince George.
The money has been funded by the provincial government and will benefit the following organizations:
- BC Snowboard Association: $7,500 for the 2017 Speed Nation: NorAm Tour
- Caledonia Nordic Ski Club: $10,000 for the Canadian National and North America Biathlon Championships
The money is just a portion of the $124,500 being doled out province-wide for 23 sporting events in 17 communities.
The grants range between $2,000 and $15,000 and will support the setup and operation of international, national, provincial and club championships, tournaments and tour stops for sports such as hockey, rugby, volleyball and karate.
The provincial government has invested $5.5 million into the program since 2004.
