BBQ Fundraiser to Help Keep Mental Health Activity Afloat
Prince George, B.C. – The Activity Centre for Empowerment (ACE) is hosting a fundraising barbecue today.
It’s been organized by the Prince George Mental Health and Addictions Social Committee with all funds earmarked for their indoor recreational floor hockey program at the Roll-A-Dome.
Committee member Cheryl Young says the popular program allows 20-25 people with mental health issues the chance to play floor hockey once a week throughout the year.
Despite the fact the Roll-A-Dome accommodates the program at a reduced rate, she says they still hope to raise $1,200 to pay their rental fee.
“They aren’t able to do that anywhere else and can’t afford to do it because they’re on such a limited income. So this provides an outing and something that’s physical and healthy.”
Those interested in helping out with the cause can purchase a hot dog, chips and a pop/water for $5.
The barbecue runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the ACE patio at 1131 6th Avenue (across from city hall).

I did not realize that this facility was open to the public. The only time that I entered the building , through an open door on the patio, in search of a place to purchase a sandwich and coffee etc… I was told by staff, behind the counter, that it was not open to the public.
