Prince George, B.C. – The Scotiabank AIDS Walk 2016 hosted by Positive Living North takes place this Friday.
The 1.5 km annual walk will begin at Canada Games Plaza beginning at noon. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit people living with HIV/AIDS.
This year’s AIDS Walk Champion is former journalist Camille MacDonald who witnessed first hand the outreach work of Positive Living North during her time as a reporter.
“I am proud to help spread the word about an organization that’s making such a difference, and right across the north.”
This year marks the 20th year of the national walk. Over that time, it has raised over $42 million and has attracted well over half a million walkers’ country wide.
Vanessa West, executive director at Positive Living North, estimates they serve approximately 130-150 clients living with HIV.
