Weekend May See Snow in P.G.
Prince George, B.C. – There is a strong likelihood that Prince George will see its first snow flakes of the season before this holiday is weekend is through.Environment Canada Meteorologist Matt MacDonald says some snow has already been spotted “Temperatures are really going to take a dip over the next few days, in fact it was actually snowing this morning just west of Prince George, with snow fall in Fort Fraser and Burns Lake, but luckily it’s going to stay all liquid today for Prince George , there could be some overnight periods of flurries.”
He says the weekend could bring some snow to P.G “We could see some accumulations, not much, maybe one or two centimeters, but a good reminder for folks to put their snow tires on and get ready for winter.”
Anyone travelling this weekend will want to know the cut off line for snowfall is south of Prince George “as you start to move your way south to Quesnel and into Clinton, the precipitation there will be falling as rain, as you head north, the conditions will be worse as you move into the Peace country.”
He says the lows will be chillier than normal for this time of year ” Overnight lows this weekend could be in the minus 7 range Saturday night, which is a full 9 degrees lower than usual for this time of the year” but there is good news “Sunday and Monday you ( Prince George) have one of the better forecasts in the province. Monday will see a high of 6 degrees, although it will be cooler in the morning, so you should watch out for black ice. But Monday afternoon the sun will be out in full force.”
