Prince George, B.C. – Motorists travelling Highway 16 east to the Alberta border should note a traffic delay and temporary closure planned for today in Jasper National Park.
The Parks Canada Public Relations and Communications department advises that a section of Highway 16 through the park will be blocked in both directions for a two-hour period this afternoon for rock blasting.
The closure will begin 10 km west of the Jasper townsite and 16 km from the West Gate. The total closure will be in effect from 12 noon to 2pm Pacific Daylight Time.
Parks Canada advises that you give yourself extra time to reach your destination and suggests you take along some water and snacks.
