Timberwolves Open Basketball Season in Winnipeg

Prince George, B.C. – The UNBC Timberwolves opened the 2016-17 Canada West basketball season in Winnipeg Friday night.
The University of Winnipeg Wesmen women’s team scored a 58-52 victory over the Timberwolves. Madison Landry paced the UNBC attack with 15 points while teammate Maria Mongomo came up with a double-double, 11 points and 15 rebounds.
The teams meet again at 5 pm today.
On the men’s side, the Wesmen hit seven three-pointers on their way to a 74-59 win over the Timberwolves. Marcus MacKay led UNBC with 22 points while Rhys Elliott added 15.
Those teams wrap up their weekend set at 7 tonight.
