U of A Tops T-Wolves in Hoops Action
Prince George, B.C. – A tough start to the weekend for UNBC’s men and women’s basketball teams.
The University of Alberta Pandas women’s team defeated the UNBC Timberwolves 78-65 last night at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre.
The Timberwolves are now 0-3 to start the season while the Pandas improved to 3-0.
Fifth-year guard Maddie Rogers led the Pandas with 18 points in 23 minutes of playing time. The Timberwolves were led by third-year forward Vasiliki Louka who scored 21 points.
The two teams meet again tonight at 5 p.m. at the Charles Jago Centre.
Meanwhile in men’s Canada West play, the University of Alberta Golden Bears outlasted the UNBC Timberwolves 78-69.
The win was the third straight for the Golden Bears who improved to 3-0 while the Timberwolves fell to 0-3.
Third-year guard Austin Waddoups led the Golden Bears with 19 points while UNBC’s fifth-year guard Rhys Elliot led all players with 21 points.
The teams hit the court again tonight for the rematch at 7 p.m. at the Charles Jago Northern Sports Centre.
