Quesnel, B.C. – An elderly man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in an intersection in Quesnel.

Sgt. Chris Riddle says it happened Friday night at around 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of Front Street and St. Laurent Avenue.

He says the man was being pushed in his wheelchair through the intersection when he was struck by a southbound vehicle on Front Street causing the man to fall out of his wheelchair and fall onto the ground.

The victim was taken to GR Baker Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Riddle says the driver remained at the scene and police don’t believe speed and alcohol to have been factors.

The man’s name has not been released. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
